What is the alternative to carbon based fuels?

serious question

The anti-nuke crowd won’t let us build nuclear power stations. Plus the waste is arguably worse than Co2.
There is not enough wind in my region for a wind farm.
Solar cells are fine for calculators. Not so good for appliances that consume more than a watt of energy.
Cold fusion is still just a pipe dream.
SBSP is just a pipe dream as well.

Offer a practical alternative, and we would flock to it. I am no fan of the brown sunrise in my city. But I am also not a fan of scrapping my truck for a horse and wagon.

Why Shifting from Fossil Fuels to Cleaner Alternatives Will Require Fossil Fuels

Why Shifting from Fossil Fuels to Cleaner Alternatives Will Require Fossil Fuels
The world is waiting for a clean revolution , a shift away from the greenhouse gas-emitting, mountain-leveling, air-polluting, fossil-fuel burning way of life. The world may have to wait a long time if past energy transitions are anything to go by, according to environmental scientist Vaclav Smil of the University of Manitoba–especially since fossil fuel energy is so cheap. Common Types of Alternative Fuels

www.alternativefuelstips.com Common alternative fuels include bio diesel, butanol, ethanol, chemically stored electricity (batteries and fuel cells), methane, natural gas, wood, hydrogen, vegetable oil, biomass, and peanut oil. The term “alternative fuels” usually refers to a source of which energy is renewable. When we say renewable energy it is the energy from renewable sources like wind power, geothermal power, solar power, tidal power, hydro power or thermal depolymerization. There is growing social interest, and an economic and political need for the expansion of alternative fuel sources. This is due to general concerns of sustainability, environmental, economic, and geopolitical reasons. There are two major concerns that are that of rising cost of fuels derived from fossils caused by an era of growing energy usage and of the crisis of global warming. http

Military, gov’t increase investment in algae fuels
